u think i can get a reduced fine because it is my first offense and the conditions on the road allowed for a higher speed?

Um no, you cannot just decide to not attend your court date because you have school. You have to call the court and schedule another date/time. If you don't mind dealing with increased insurance premiums, just plead guilty and pay the fine (you can just mail in the ticket and check).

Otherwise, you can try to beat the ticket by continually moving back the court date or hiring a lawyer in the area to represent you. It may cost several hundred dollars, but these people are buddy-buddy with everyone and 9 times out of 10 can get you out of the ticket. On top of that, no points on the license and no increased insurance premiums.

What state do you live in? Most states have absolute speed limits. http://www.mit.edu/~jfc/laws.html

You're going to end up paying the fine most likely, what you're looking to avoid is the insurance premium hike. There are a couple of ways you can do that depending on the state:
1. Defered judgement. Don't get another ticket for a certain amount of time and it doesn't go on your record.
2. Ask for traffic school.
3. Plea bargain - plead guilty to a non-point violation.

Usually after getting a ticket you'll get a few solicitations from lawyers in the mail. My last speeding ticket I paid court fees ($135) and the lawyer only cost $60. It got moved down to improper use of equipment. No traffic school, nothing on my record, nothing. Anyway, you don't want to get points on your license, so it's in your best interest to not get "convicted." As long as the city gets $$$, they don't really care that much.

I got a speeding ticket this past summer in NY. I couldn't attend the court date b/c it was set for 4 days before I got home for winter break and it could not be rescheduled. I argued my point by mail, but I ended up losing and it cost me more money than paying the ticket up front. If I paid it up front, it would have been $160; by paying it after trying to fight it, it was $250.
