How do you file for that?
I filed for a court hearing. I think I'd need a lawyer for that andRequest discovery of critical/frivolous items.

Look, you think the cop made it up. You have a right to see his notes. If he used vascar (stupid white lines and stopwatch-like device), it will have a vascar printout. If he used radar, it will have a radar printout. If he follwed you for a 1/4mile, matching speed there will be a printout of that too... X50 (I have one) tells me it wasn't radar. If you don't get that cops notes, he's going to whitewash you in court.
Google "filing for discovery" for more info
and no, you don't need a lawyer, just a few functioning brain cells and motivation.
Discovery should have been the first thing you did after pleading not guilty.
The funny part is....I am doing an online defensive driving course right now while reading anandtech and stumbled upon this.

I don't want it on my record. And guilty doesn't mean court.
If you didn't want it on your record, perhaps you shouldn't have sped.

Bah speed limits are WAY too low.
Until speed limits are raised to an efficient speed, 99% of drivers will speed. Sure most people only go 10-15 over ... but still, technically, isn't anything over at all, still speeding?
If everyone does it, and there are no "victims" I don't see why it's so bad.

Just plead guilty and telling them you are regretting for speeding.

Dag man, you have the RIGHT to demand to see his equipment at the time of the ticket. If he can't PROVE to you (i.e., show you his machine and it recorded the speed) then you're free & clear. Hate that you didn't know that though![]()
That, my n00bish friend, is a load of crap!
Yup, wife and I got pulled as out-of-staters once in a Virginia speedtrap. The cop lied through his teeth about how fast we were going because we saw him well over a mile in advance. The cop said state law said he didn't have to show me anything.

OK, court date over.
The cop showed up, so naturaly I pleaded guilty. Got $100 fine and 4 months supervision, no traffic school yay.
New happening though, got in a car accident today, the guy was pulling out of a 7/11 and didnt check both ways and as I slowly passed him up and started honking because I knew he didn't see me he hits the gas and rams my back end crippling the bumber and back right fender.
He told the cops it was his fault, he got a ticket and now I'm trying to milk money out of this, I had a passenger who was distressed, what actions can I take in the suing process? Hmmm.
Oh and the cop gave me a form in which I have to draw a composite sketch of the whole thing, this should be interesting...
Gotta love this country.

Oh no? Well what would you suggest? Let the guy who ruins your insurance, beats up your beloved car and costs you pain and distress to just drive off? I'm sorry I shouldn't punish him for not learning how to drive?
And in what other country can you milk money?
Lemme 'splain it to you: You speed because you can and because you want to, but you're not man enough to accept the fine you earned. Then you turn around and expect to 'punish' a guy who made a mistake and caused a minor fender bender?

But if we didn't speed, how would you earn your paycheck?

Thats actually a myth, at least in IL it is. I've talked to a few cops here and they say that they don't have to show squat. And I've never heard of anyone getting off because the cop didn't show them the radar gun.

You get emotional on people whom you don't even know? Wow....
Anyway, where would you get the idea I'm not "man" enough to accept the fine? Minor fender bender? The whole back side is a wreck, there is no fender nor bumper.
And I don't expect to punish, I am punishing him. If you can't provide insightful comments, instead ridicule strangers over the web whom you don't have the slightest idea of who they really are, then I suggest you post elsewhere, I for one would rather not have someone like you on my thread, k thx.
Piece of work? Haven't heard that in a while, you tickle my fancy![]()
