Write to the district attourney's office and ask to have it reduced. If this is your only ticket, you will have a good chance at getting it reduced.

With the letter, include a copy of the ticket, as well as a copy of your driving record that you can get from the DMV.

Good luck. I got my 75 in a 55 ticket knocked down to a 62 in a 55 so it didn't look as bad. Then again, I did go to court because I wrote to the DA to late.

You can serach the 100+ other speeding threads and find that 99 out of 100 people are stupid enough to plead guilty and have their insurance raised for life and pay the insane ticket.

Be smart and plead not guilty and have the court lower the offense instead. They just want the money so they may lower the points but keep the fine.

Um........ ya right. That is what the cop wants....... you out of your car, in harms way of oncoming traffic. You end up getting hit and the police department has an awful lawsuit on their hands.

Not to mention he DOES show that you were speeding, you get all crazy and try to attack him........

I dont think that advice is legit at all!

move to a state where you can go to traffic school to remove simple speeding penalties once every 18 months. (that's if you get another ticket 18 months after the previous, you're eligble to go to traffic school)

or don't speed.

or hire someone to speed in front of you whenever you want to speed, so they'll get caught instead of you.

First off... Were you speeding? Oh. Pay the damn ticket you douche. You deserve it. Stop trying to blame someone else for you speeding.

Second... Weaseling out of a ticket is like trying to weasel out of a shotgun blast to the face. Unless you can prove that you weren't there, it's the shotgun against you, and the little details (I was wearing a green shirt, there was another guy there, the officer cheated) don't mean crap.

Finally... I hope the judge looks at you and laughs, puts it on your record and that the court fees are astronomical. The risk you take for breaking the speed limit is that you might get caught and as a result it will be on your record, your insurance may go up, and if it happens a couple more times, you don't have a liscence. Stop acting like you didn't know this would happen or that you are better than everyone else and don't deserve to be punished the same way or something. You got caught, deal with the reprecussions.

I don't want it on my record. And guilty doesn't mean court.

If you didn't want it on your record, perhaps you shouldn't have sped.

Why are people busted for speeding so fvcking stupid? "I don't want it on my record ..." Well then, did you learn not to speed? It won't be on your record if you don't. Also, if you need a radar detector, you've got to expect to be caught at times. Wanker.

I got two tickets in 6 days in January. Hired a cheap traffic lawyer, 5 months later, no record, insurance doesn't even know I got pulled over, and not points are on my license. Traffic court is cake, and if the Cop doesn't show, it IS thrown out. And no, my tickets were nothing minor by any means. If cops can't show when their radar/laser guns were last calibrated, it's thrown out.

Did you do something silly like..

"Do you know how fast you were going?"

"63?"

If so, you had the right to remain silent, just not the ability.

dont try to beat the ticket just plead guilty, and what happend to me was that the cop said i was going oike 57 in a 35 or 40...something like that and i mos definitely was not and he was driving so there was no way he could have known my exact speed.

anyways but i went to court and i plead guilty then hired a lawyer for like 150-200 bux and he pleaded with the judge and got it so that i only had to pay for a minor parking infraction and taking a defensive driving course so i wouldnt get points on my lisence

in my small town, local police hand out moving violations to support their own existence and increase revenues.

in my town, they interested in the money. so they are willing to deal if you show up in court and work with them.

It is here in washington state, they passed the law awhile ago. if the cop marks radar, its in your right to see it. if he doesn't show you it, then you dont have to sign the ticket. fairly simple

On my ticket it doesn't say that he used his radar. That's 1. 2, Since there were other cars on the road with me I'll contest he clocked them and not me.
