uhh.. its a certain number of points for each certain amount over the limit you are. When I got a ticket for 83 in a 55 I was looking at 4 points. 2 is usually the least you will get if they issue a ticket because they usually dont issue tickets for less than 10mph over.

How is this a speed trap? The speed limit doesn't change until you are at the point of the sign. You were still in a 25mph zone and you got caught speeding in that zone.

Decrease of State Highway Speed Limits

22354. (a) Whenever the Department of Transportation determines upon the basis of an engineering and traffic survey that the limit of 65 miles per hour is more than is reasonable or safe upon any portion of a state highway where the limit of 65 miles is applicable, the department may determine and declare a prima facie speed limit of 60, 55, 50, 45, 40, 35, 30 or 25 miles per hour, whichever is found most appropriate to facilitate the orderly movement of traffic and is reasonable and safe, which declared prima facie speed limit shall be effective when appropriate signs giving notice thereof are erected upon the highway.

(b) This section shall become operative on the date specified in subdivision (c) of Section 22366. "

wtf! just found out that the fine to 15 over and below is 93$, for 16 and over its 163... I got got clocked, according to the cop, at 51 in a 35 - thats 16 over. Can I go to court, plead guilty but claim I was going 50, and not 51, thus get it to 15 and below and have the fine lowered? Do I have a chance?

lol.. yeah that might work, but the actual fine should be the least of your worries. Its the insurance increases that will likely follow that will be far worse.

uhh... the point system differs per state. :p

In California it goes by the 1 point / 2 point system. You get 2 points for being stupid like racing, driving REALLY fast (100+ mph) and anything else that's considered reckless. 2 point violations you cannot get traffic school and you are fubared. Everything else is 1 point.

oh... for the OP, yeah if it's been 18 months you can take traffic school again.
