Hi, everyone i recently got a ticket in macon for going 84 in a 70. I was actuly doing 91 but the cop changed it to a non super speeder but in the notes section of the ticket ge wrote that i was doing 91mph. He also told me that if were to contest to the ticket he would testify for the 91. I just want to pay the ticket and get it over with but its been over three weeks and the ticket is not in the system. My court date is in three weeks and if it wasent in the system by then i would have to go to court right? But i dont want to get a super speeder. Please help

You should be able to plead guilty and just pay it, even if you do have to go to court for a clerical error.

I think you can call and pay it online, even without a court appearance. I have only gotten two tickets and never went to court for them. I was able to just pay them online.

If you go in person to fix the mistake ask if they have a drivers ed option.

In Texas you can plead no contest and pay for a drivers ed class at which point they drop the ticket from your record. The class provides a certificate for the court and one for your insurance which can also reduce your rates.

Drivers ed is expensive, and boring as shit. The last question they should ask is "Did you learn anything?". Anyone who answers yes should have their license yanked, and be put on a permanent blacklist. They're barely capable of unassisted breathing, much less operate a 2000# death machine.

I have already taken drivers ed.

"Yes, I learned that this course is ridiculous and I'm going to drive better so that I don't have to take it again."

What's the problem?

Here in Nevada you can plead guilty with an explanation; just an honest I was speeding. I'm guilty will get you a reduced fine for taking the effort to come to court. Judges appreciate honesty. Good luck,

Defensive Driving Course (it's not driver's ed, that's what you take when you first work to get your learner's permit) is $20 in Texas. How much does it run you?

Sorry I wasn't clear but it's a defensive driving class. It's generally cheaper to pay the court costs and the class then pay the ticket. Plus it removes the ticket from your record so your insurance doesn't increase.

It's still boring.

In Texas you can take defensive driving as long as the offense allows it and you haven't taken it in the previous year.

Yup what CPA said. 😉

I might have been misremembering. I was thinking $200+, but it was definitely more than $20. $70 in the early 90s if I remember right. I got auto-selected to take it by the dmv, and I don't know why. I've never had more than two points at any one time on my license. I decided it was cheaper, and easier on my sanity to take the class rather than fight(pre-internet) with the dmv.

I'm not sure that was the best decision. It was longer than 2 hours(6?), and an endless stream of stupidity. It was like spending the day in kindergarten with idiots and drunks, and being expected to take it seriously.

You can take them online now. The only issue is the class forces you to spend X number of minutes per page and prompts you for personal information every so often to make sure it's you and your paying attention.
