You don't have to pay it legally, the owner of the car is responsible as far as the cops are concerned, but it might find it's way onto your credit history.

160kph is not 'screwing around'. It is normal passing speed on freeways in the GTA.

The really slow people are going 120, faster are 140 and the people passing are going 160.
You are fucking lying out your ass. Even on the 407, the highway with the fastest average speed, cars rarely go over 140 and I take it every day. On the 401, I never get the opportunity to speed unless it's the dead of night; either there's rush hour traffic, or weeknight/weekend drivers hogging all lanes at 90 kph.

In short, you're a fucknugget.

Ever drive Calgary <-> Edmonton? I'm sure most "interstates" you can pretty much go as fast as you want as long as you're not 10mph+ over everyone else.

I don't normally admit this but I have done between 75 and 90 mph on the 401. This was going from Kingston to Smith Falls. Of course this was in my old and long gone 1968 Buick Sylark coup and 350 V8. It was amazing to drive that fast so effortlessly.

I don't drive like that now even though my current ride has no problems going that fast.

The letter also stated they were unable to charge it, not sure why it didn't go through, as the regular rental fee went through fine and the card is still active. Regardless, they shouldn't be making people plea guilty automatically. My cousin, whom I was following on every road there BTW (I am waiting to hear if she got a ticket too), has fought many tickets there.

You gave away all rights to your credit when you sighed the rental papers. They have your card number on file. Better call the company and see if this is not a scam.

He may have meant within the GTA area so Burlington to Pickering. You are not getting past 120-130 Kph on a regular day on the 401 within that section.

On the 400 north, that is where you can just go freaking crazy. Completely straight highway with little to no curves, 3 lanes wide until you get past Barrie. Not too many po-po. Still, most traffic is usually 120-130 and some crazy assholes in the far left lane do 140-150.

I've done 155 kph "accidentally" passing someone in the left lane (I was screwing around) on the QEW heading Niagara-bound at 7am in the morning (the way everyone else isn't going for work).

If you plan on going back to Canada pay up. Not worth the hassles if they somehow get a warrant out for you.

If not, ignore it. Canadian companies have no way to get into your credit, even if they have even your SS number.

Umm, it's going to be between Enterprise and him. They will pay it if he doesn't and then he'd have to deal with their collections.

Speeding tickets are pretty expensive in Canada. I got one for going 12 kmph over and it was $180.

$130 bucks is probably a minimum ticket, aka no cop would actually pull you over for it, that's why they have photo radar... revenue.

Honestly, I don't think anything can come of it between law enforcement and you. Enterprise would need to allege that you were driving, and you would need to acknowledge that you were, and then the ticket would transfer to you. The registered owner is always primarily liable for those tickets in Canada unless something has changed recently.

Your only issue is make sure it was actually a legit ticket, as in it was you, and do you care about the repercussions of being in debt to a foreign company, which are likely not going to be many.
