I just got a phonecall from my mother. Her best friend's son who is 18 was killed when he lost control of his car speeding. Its just another wakeup call, please be careful out there.

Actually, that is a misconception. Speeding of itself does not kill. In this case, we see loss of control and inexperience led to the crash.

That said, it does not lessen my sorrow at the loss.

And yes, please be careful.

Err...based on the title of the thread I don't think this was about mourning the loss of Texmaster's family friend. I am sorry that he died, but my post was in response to the PSA title of the post, and Texmaster's previous history of flaming those who support the cell-phone ban in New York.

Thanks for the conscerns guys. I'm not taking it that hard myself as I bearly knew the kid but I thought it was a good time to remind everyone that speeding is extremely dangerous.

This kid didn't have a cell phone. He was driving too fast and he lost control.

You're an ass to use this as a petty personal attack on me when I was just trying to remind everyone of a dangerous habit most of us have including me.

However, I do find it ironic that someone who adamately defended a driver's right to talk on a cell phone while driving would give us a PSA on the dangers of speeding. Does speeding 85 in a 55 vs going the speed limit really make a difference when your car flips and ends up head first in a concrete barrier?

That's why it's banned in my country. And still pple still do that and hog up the road and make pple angry. 🙁
