speed problem

I have 2 laptops in my room one is vaio vgn s460b
and the other one is toshiba satellite A40.
The toshiba always seems to recieve constant 54 mbps
but the vaio one is inconsistant receiveing from 24 to 54 mbps.
Is there a specific problem with my vaio ?
