My only major concern is speed. My most common way of finding something to watch is channel surfing. Uverse can change channels and show me a picture in an instant, similarly the analog tuning on my TVs or my PC is also lightning fast. Further more, with uverse I have a PIP where I can preview other channels while watching the main program.

The comcast set-top boxes by comparison are ungodly slow to change channels, better than satellite, but still so so slow.

Anybody know exactly how fast the Comcast boxes and adapters are and if there is any way to make them faster. And if there is any PIP feature similar to U-verse.

Thanks,

Also, if this is not the best place for this thread please tell me.

And if anybody has other suggestions such as a cable-card TV or tuner that may be much faster at a reasonable price, I would like to know about it.

Why in god's name would you just be flipping channels?? There's a channel guide. Use it.

Last time I checked the channel guide does not show you what is on the screen just the program. If I recognize it and want to watch it it's fine, but if I don't know what it is or am flipping during commercials I need speed.

You sure this isn't HDCP handshaking? Try hooking up with component cables to see what happens.

Mine takes ~2 seconds to change channels. Even when i used a pvr in my pc with basic cable it took about that too.

Really the guide is the best bet, otherwise just know what channels you actually like and go straight to them.

As for pip you need the dvr with dual tuners. Not sure if you can get it without getting the actual DVR box (vs the normal just viewing one). Reason being it uses both tuners for the pip.
