Till I moved from the Chicago land area to Dyer TN, I thought it was all a joke.

I finally remembered to take my camera with me yesterday as I took my son to the park. Thought Id show everyone, who may never of seen a sign not ending in a 5 or 0, what it actually looks like.

Kinda weird, and has always keep me looking at my speed going down them streets for its near the court house and cops are everywhere.

Post real ones you know of!

Oh its real. Would you like to see the other shot I took of it with different cars going past, and slightly off angle? I wouldnt make this up, its not what I do.

2nd shot taken of the sign.

Both shots taken with my new Sanyo Xacti C5 video/photo camera.

The speed limit on the Ole Miss campus is 18, in honor of Archie Manning.

One reason you don't see speed limits at unusual numbers is that the signs get stolen frequently.

I've seen 12 mph speed limits in parking lots for schools and such. Never on a normal road though, weird.

There are a ton of these here. If your on any road in Trenton TN, thats off the 45 highway, its 31 MPH. I must admit I am tempted to take one myself though, but with all the cops, and near the court house, Im sure to get caught.

Yes. When I was driving down to North Carolina from NY there were highway signs that said 64 MPH.

that doesn't really prove anything. you could have easily taken 2 photos and photoshopped both, just needing to edit the sign...but hopefully you wouldn't do that

omg are you serious, what do I gain from photo chopping a speed limit sign? And people think I have too much time on my hands

whats the point of those signs? why not just use a sign that ends in 0 or 5? seems like a waste of money to make different signs like that.

If I had a private road I'd make a speed limit sign that says pi^2*sqrt100. Watch people be confused unless they can figure out that the speed limits a bit over 90.

the power plants ive worked at out here in az are posted either 8mph or 7.5mph. i asked the plant director one time why it was such an odd speed, he said the engineers had worked out the speed at which a vehicle would knock you down but not hurt you, and that was it. made sense after that.

A friend in law enforcement told me it was done to "GRAB" motorist attention.
This, after I asked about the 23mph sign near me.
