"Speed limit enforced by aircraft" - what exactly does this mean?

Sounds like a waste of taxpayers money, because I doubt that the man/flying hours will equal the revenue generated from tickets. I suppose that they could catch the one random speeder that is truly a danger to other motorists and that would justify it, but it seems unlikely.

It's not as popular as in the late 70's to 80's.

The method of determining your speed by thos elines in the road is called "Pacing". That is normally what they will have to write on your ticket for what method they nailed you by.

You know I was going to post this same question... I see this sign on the PA turnpike, but I never really knew how it worked. I also see signs that say "Speed Electronically Enforced" Is this similar?
