Speed difference upgrading just the motherboard?

I'm thinking about taking my sweet time to upgrade my computer. I don't need something cutting edge - I would just like to speed up render times on after effects and make video editing a bit quicker. Would upgrading from a single channel i845 chipset motherboard to a dual channel i865 motherboard bring me a noticeable speed difference? I'm running a p4 2.4..The ram is 256x2. My master plan is to upgrade to an HT cpu but will I see a difference just with the motherboard? If not I'll just save up for an a-64 though I don't game...
 
Just by changing the mobo and keeping everything else the same you will not notice big differences tbh.
The dual channel will give you around a 5% on the ram speed but thats it mainly.

Dont expect anything serius imho.

 
RAM throughput will double. With a P4 and its design dependency on fast RAM, that'll be noticeable.

You could also take that very same RAM to an AMD64 socket-939 board for even better performance 😉
