Speculations on IT

Every one must have heard about that IT thing by now, what do you all think it could be?? I'm thinking alot of things, but mainly it's driving me frickin nuts!! saw some thing on Good morning america, they interviewed some guy about it, and he was like, I am not telling, they showed some patent they dug out of the patent office, and he's like I'm not saying either way, any one know when there will be a press release on this thing?? what the heck gives?? IT is getting lots of hype, the better have some sort of press release soon, and where is the scientist who designed IT?

Try checking out some of the links eyor posted in his thread on this last night.

From what I can gather, it could be some new invention to produce clean energy efficiently.

"According to Kemper?s proposal, IT will change the world, and is so extraordinary that it has drawn the attention of technology visionaries Jeff Bezos and Steve Jobs"

Uh-huh...

"The invention itself is as interesting as the inventor. Kamen ? ?a true eccentric, cantankerous and opinionated, a great character,? according to the proposal ? dropped out of college in his 20s, then invented the first drug infusion pump; he later created the first portable insulin pump and dialysis machine.
Kamen, an avid aviator who commutes via a helicopter, is also the founder of FIRST ? For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology ? a nonprofit organization that encourages young people to pursue studies and careers in math and science."

Interesting. But what's so revolutionary/amazing about this whole thing anyway? If anybody even knows exactly what it is... 😉

In some of the publications I read, there has been a growing number of serious science articles talking about the actual use of so-called "Cold Fusion." Japan
currently has a 1.5 billion dollar cold fusion program, and word is out that someone is very close to mass-producing a cold fusion power generator. These
generators are supposed to range in size from a medium sized suitcase (something that could be carried in a duffle bag?), to the size of a compact car. The smallest
version could provide power to a house, and the larger one can provide power to an office building.

One of the reasons why cold fusion has been slammed by the scientific community is that it would turn the entire energy industry on it's head--Oil, gas and coal would
no longer be needed for the "everyman's" consumption.

It will be very interesting to see if this is where this is really heading.

The other major tech development that is supposed to happen some time this year is the introduction of a new data transmission format that enables persons using
regular 56 k modems to have download and upload speeds at 10 times that of a T-1 line. This so-called "holy grail" internet technology is also under fire because it
would undercut the entire broadband industry.

2001 is shaping up to be a very exciting year!

now thats what im talking about "i'm typing" i personally like the thought of a "Transporter" type device, but thats way too out there. or maybe some sort of gravity control..

I'm Typing

Where did you read about these possible technology advancements. Both sound amazing, but it would seem like more people would know about them. Any more info you could offer?

Why you think a man involved primarily with biomedical projects would develop cold fusion (which last I heard was still impossible) is beyond me.

But if anyone actually wants to do some real research on this wonderful invention a patent search is the best option. Here are 37 Patents that were awarded to Kamen's Deka Products company since 96.

Things that look most interesting:
Human Transporter
Control Loop for Transportation Vehicles
Indication System for vehicles
Transportation vehicles and methods
Transportation vehicles with stability enhancement using CG modification

Maybe these all refer to that wheelchair that goes upstairs or whatever, but it still sounds like a motorized scooter to me.

For some reason I can't view the images for the human transporter patent.
