Has anyone else tried to figure out why Trump would insist on keeping the originals of so many classified dox?

My first response was, well, why not just scan all of them and hide them in some family member's cloud server? Encrypt them if you're really paranoid.

The only reason I can come up with is that he intended to sell them and no buyer could be sure of the authenticity unless they were getting unredacted originals.

Anyone have a less damning theory?

He’s mentally ill and having those things makes him feel important and special.

There was a time when I would have agreed with that. But then I think of that mob boss who pretended to be crazy. Gigante I think. Forgot his mob nickname.

Don't forget, DJT admires the mob and he certainly would have taken note of Gigante's success (until it failed) with that ploy.

That said, Trump isn't nearly as smart and certainly nowhere near as disciplined as the average mob boss. Those guys don't get those positions of power by being in any way or to any extent anything that could be considered 'dumb.'

But to win over a large minority of 'Mercans, all you really need is a good catch phrase and the imaginary mantle of trust acquired after 10 solid years on tv. And for a lot people that don't have any interest in looking too closely, DJ T can, apparently be wildly charismatic.

I don’t think he is smart or disciplined but I do think he is mentally ill.

Also, his mental illness would not protect him from criminal charges related to this, which I expect are forthcoming.

Oh, by the way.

Yeah, sure.

But what about Hunter Biden's missing dick pics?

Republicans everywhere need to see 'em. For National Security reasons. Especially when Hunter's sporting a 5 day old beard and he's smoking a cigarette. You don't have to take my word on it, go ask them.

Well, I ordered my Trump documents off www.TrumpClassifiedDocsCheap.org. The my pillow guy even threw in a set of pillows. YEA!

But I am sick of hearing the media tell us: IT WAS A BAD DAY FOR DONALD TRUMP. Or, IT WAS A BAD WEEK FOR DONALD TRUMP.
I don't see Trump having that bad of days or weeks at all. And the promise of bad days ahead by the media isn't gonna sway me.
As long as Trump is free, and running wild, and holding rallies, and campaigning for president, I don't think Trump is having any bad days, weeks, or months. It all looks good to me as Donald Trump slides smoothly along.

Now THIS would be a bad day for Trump, but nothing less.

@sportage - I'm afraid that's almost certainly in the cards. We can debate the significance of the NYC indictments but the dox thing, that isn't going to be any pussy foot Mueller report. Plus there's the fake electors scheme, seditious conspiracy, etc.

Trump is hoping he can run out the clock, but it's a vain hope.

I legit think he was leveraging them for cash in the future, either to saudis or russia or whomever.
I think this is actually somewhat plausible—but perhaps not in the way you’re thinking. I don’t think he’s quite willing to leverage state secrets with our enemies, but I absolutely believe he might leverage intel on certain individuals—either as blackmail or to embarrass them. It’s the exact same thing he did with David Pecker and the Enquirer.

Too bad the slow hand of justice will catch up with Trump only after he's managed to wreck every single thing he's laid his shit-midas mitts on. Still, having him incarcerated will be supremely satisfying on the one hand, and quite entertaining to see how his cult droids flagellate themselves over it on the other. Justice demands nothing less.

I would also submit as a suggestion "He's dumb as fuck and just doesn't care"
I think you're right that there's also an element of impunity here. He's always gotten away with it before so he not unreasonably expects to continue getting away with it.

Nothing was wrong with the Mueller report. It was always a present with a giant bow tie on top for congress. Indicting the current sitting POTUS was never going to happen

I disagree - I think Mueller choosing not to make charging decisions related to Trump was a very large mistake and based on circular logic.

Basically, Mueller said that because Trump (and other presidents before him) have declared themselves immune from prosecution while in office that it would be unfair to accuse Trump of a crime where he couldn't defend himself in court. Of course the only reason Trump couldn't defend himself in court was that he declared himself immune from it!

I can almost guarantee they refused to write that multiple times before he insisted on it. And it reads like he wrote it, or dictated it and they swapped in some legalese for the obvious Trump-isms.

This is real. Holy shit. LolView attachment 81003

That phrase “Unlike Biden…Trump is being treated unfairly” implies that Trump believes that Biden has been treated fairly. Seems like that’s worth keeping in your back pocket. Might be handy.

And what a joke .... Garland should tell him to refer to the special prosecutor. Or just tell him to shove it up his ass. By putting an independent investigator in charge, he can just wave off any accusations of political motives. Interesting that instead of addressing his complaint to the Special Prosecutor, he went to his boss. Like a Karen demanding to speak to the manager.

The letter is NOT an honest attempt to arrange for a meeting. It's written more for Trump’s base supporters. So they can get their base to believe that Trump’s team did everything they could to work with the “weaponized DOJ” who simply refused to work with them. So Unfair! It’s red meat for the red states. It’s all they can do, because there’s no real legal defense.
