Hello, I wanted to know how these specs would work for GTA V:

Core i7 5960X (overclocked)
GTX 980 3 way SLI
1300w Corsair PSU
X99 Asus V Rampage motherboard
2x1TB Samsung evo 840 SSD
16GB corsair RAM
Water Cooled CPU, GPU and Chip set

I know this system is overkill but I've been saving up for a very long time and would like to not need to upgrade it for a few years, how many FPS would you say I'd get on ultra with AA all the way up at 1080p?

I think that's more than enough of that.

Since there's no way to know this lets say anywhere between 200 and 0, or maybe they don't even release on PC?

Wow really? You spent all that money and you can't piece together how gta 5 might perform on it. Give me that PC. -_-

Poorly. No game supports three cards at once well. GTA IV barely supported SLI, Day 1 GTA V will run well on a single GPU and maybe 2 at best. 3 pffft. SLI is never worth it.

Clearly you came here to brag.

What? No thermal paste?

I see what you did there, sir. :sneaky:

OP, your PC is crap. Especially since you magically went from a 4770 to 5960X (overclocked), and 750ti dual ski to 980 3 way sli. If it ain't cooled with solution, it doesn't deserve a thread.

Hey guys,

I've just come back from my time ship from 2062
Will this run GTA 5?

Flux Core Quantum Singularity Bubble
768 GB of DDR14 RAM - phase shifted
120 TB Planck Manipulation storage device
3x Nvidia GTX 19800 120 GB Time Dilated Photonic Array

Can this run the game at 768p???

No. It is another crappy console port. You will get 34,5 fps max, no matter how good the specs

Seriously I hope it is not :D

Your problem is that your machine is too good.

None of the GTA developers have a machine that good; I'd be surprised if they have more than a couple of machines that run 2-way SLI, let alone 3 way.

Your machine will likely run at 150 fps, but you'll have microstutters that will drive you insane.

You'd be better off with a machine that is simpler.

So you think that I'd have posted that too just because it's my first post? I haven't ordered any of the parts yet and I wanted to get more info which I did, like 3 way- SLI won't work that well, I know water cooling technically isn't a spec but I'd rather put it down now than have people ask me whether I have air or water cooling later.

Come on man. Do you really think a enthusiast level CPU and three way SLI of high end GPU's isn't going to be able to run GTA5 at 1080p? That PC will be more powerful than 99.9% of the PC's playing it.

Yep.

That's about as fast as you can realistically make a desktop computer right now, the very idea that this might not play new games well is obviously nonsense. This is just a brag thread.

I don't think anyone in the hardware forums has a problem with bragging about epic rigs, most people there are hardware fanatics and love to see this kinda thing being put together, but to hide it behind a thin veil of misdirection is just lame.

And yeah I'm kinda Jelly, while I can afford to buy that kinda kit I simply can't justify it in the current market.

I don't find bleeding edge rigs particularly impressive, and I can care less if the owners want to brag about the hardware but I do have a problem with people bragging how X game taxes their uber rigs as something to be proud of alone regardless of how good it actually runs and the quality of visuals they are bringing to the real-world table.
