Specific Wireless Router Suggestion?

I'm looking for a wireless router that has a switch to turn off the wireless broadcast?

All the one's I've seen just start broadcasting as soon as they're turned on even if I'm only using it as a normal router with no option to choose to has it broadcast or not!

Any suggestions for affordable ones that have a On/Off switch for the WLAN are appreciated.

Cheers,

Werty.

Netgear allows you to shut off the wireless access point, as do most of the soho routers probably. It is done typically via the config screen when you telnet to the router, not a on/off switch.

The crappy dlink and new netgear I got had a radio switch in the routers config. Unfortunatly if your looking for an external switch, you will be dissapointed to know that these days, they like to remove as many switches as possible. My netgear dosnt even have a reset switch. :/

I am a real newbie here and have the same question. What would happen if you just disconnect the antennas from the router? That was going to be my solution. I am getting a router soon but won't need the wireless part for another year or so.

That would work, somewhat. It would still have very meager reception for a few feet.

In my mind it would be easier to disable the WAP in the firmware.
