During the summer, a coworker and friend (who unfortunately got fired) showed me some ad blocking software that completely filters a web page before it is displayed. It was freeware and I think it had a greenish interface and a weird name. It would filter the html before it was displayed and remove all popups that loaded from external web sites and images and stuff - it was really good about it.

He loaded Yahoo without the program running and there were banners and images all over the site - but then he loaded Yahoo with the program running and all the banners and ads were gone while the images were still there.. It was an amazing little program.

Anyway, I've been desperately trying to find it again (I cannot remember the name).. It did not merely close popups - it kept them from ever being displayed. and it was FREEWARE

did I mention it didn't just close popups and it had a greenish interface (I think) and I remember something about monsters for some reason

anyway, if any of you know of this specific program, please lemme know!! (I tried google - but one of you googlers will probby find it and make me look dumb - feel free ;) )

Also, if you know of another program that is freeware and does this, please post it and I'll try it

EDIT: oops.. I didn't even think of the software forum. Perhaps the mods will move this cause' I don't know how and I don't want to be accused of a double post.

UPDATE: I've been searching around and I found some decent software that is freeware. However, it isn't quite as good as the original software my coworker showed me. It's called AdMuncher (www.admuncher.com

Ask/search in the S/W forum

Also try to modify your hosts file to redirect the standard ad IPs.
