Specific questions on ASUS A8N-SLI

Probably going to be getting an AMD64 San Diego 3700+ processor and I chose the A8N-SLI motherboard.

Am I reading it incorrectly or does this motherboard only have PCI-express slot and no AGP as well? Is this going to force me to upgrade my video card as well?

Will this motherboard support the dual-core chips when they come out so I can just swap one in?

Yes the Asus A8N SLI is SLI kinda common sense haha. The A8N doesnt have any agp slots so yes you will have to get a pci express video card. And i dont get ur last question lol...

I was just wondering if the motherboard will support the AMD dual-core chips when they are released. If I decide to upgrade in the future when those chips are released, will i have to purchase a new motherboard?

Yea u will have to get a diff motherboard, cuz it only has one socket one it for 1 cpu.

I believe it will require a BIOS update for the dual core. whether the updated dual core bios comes out before or after amd releases the processor is beyond me.

sphfaros there have been 2 beta-BIOS releases for the A8N-SLI that support the dual core AMD cpus, 1008-001 and 1009-002.

Tom's Hardware also did a review ( http://www.tomshardware.com/cpu/20050509/cual_core_athlon-09.html ) on the AMD Dual Core using the A8N-SLI BIOS 1007-Final so I am guessing that this board will support it.

IMHO you should get a Venice core 3000+ for USD$150ish and OC it to 2.6-2.7Ghz if you are planning on going to dual core anyway. I started with the mobo back in January so I have a Winchester 3000+ and am just waiting (not so patiently) for the dual cores.

Oh yeah and this board is PCI-Express (actually 2x PCI-Express, aka SLI) and NOT AGP.

Do you have an estimate as to how much dualcore chips will be when released?
