Specific Graphics card question

I won't go into details, but my question is:

Which is the BEST AGP graphics card out of just the following two cards:

1) Nvidia Geforce FX 5900 128MB
2) ATI Radeon 9550 256MB

The computer is pretty high spec running WinXP, albeit without PCI-X, and I'll be just using standard apps and general usage.

Which is the fastest (ignore price please) ?

I would pick the Nvidia card first especially as an FX card.
I have a Nvidia Quadro FX1400 card that faster than a few ATI FireGLs.
Nvidia has excellent specs and your Geforce falls in that category.

i think you mean pci-e, there is a difference between pci-e and pci-x. also since you are not gaming on it, get the cheaper one you are not going to notice a difference when using word or surfing.

Thanks for the replies, but if I now mention that I will be using a TV Capture card to watch/capture TV to my PC, would the choice of graphics card still be the same?

the 5900 should be faster, but realize fx5900 is not a quadro card, which is what I think you're referring to there since you're comparing it to a fireGL.

IIRC, the 9550 can OC rather well though, and should run much quieter. Weren't the high end fx cards massive?
