I am looking into specialized gyms, they seem to give better results and spoon feed you the workouts, and to be honest, I need to be spoon fed.

I know there is crossfit, I have also heard of people being injured a lot there.

Anyway, are there any other specialized gyms for general fitness I could look into

and no I do not want to do p90x or insanity.

Research and find a workout that best suits your goals. Once you understand your body you can work out at a pace suitable for you and exercises that are in line with your goals.

I just want to be in good physical shape, lose weight, I honestly just need someone to tell me what to do every day and I will do it. Its hard for me to be self motivated, but I can follow instructions with no problem

to look good naked. seriously I have always been a little husky. I just want to swim with my kids without being self conscious.

Eat right first and foremost. Do push ups, body weight squats, pull ups, jogging. No gym needed.

My work pays for my gym, and I will eat right. I live in a snowy climate so jogging needs to be done indoors.

I really need something structured. I know me. If it is open ended I will not do it. It needs to be very structured.

So what is your diet plan right now?

You should join a basic gym and do a novice weight training program like Starting Strength or Strong Lifts. I've been doing SL for a while and have gotten great results. They are fairly structured and straight-forward. I think both programs have spreadsheets out there that will calculate where you should be each day.

either pay for a trainer or find a structured program via the net. it isn't rocket science. get off your ass and you will make gains

Right now I eat shtty, because I am on the road. Come Jan, I will be at home and be able to work out at least 3 times a week.

But my diet at home consists of oatmeal or liquid eggs. cottage cheese and yogurt.
fish, brown rice, ground turkey, and chicken. Mashed potatoes, flaxseed, apples, oranges, bananas. And Kashi bars or maybe fiber one bars.

To us? Give it up.:p

Don't think you need a specialized gym. Find on that offers multiple classes that you can try out. Aerobics, spin, etc....and yes, p90x type. Even the university gym I go to has something different 5 days a week. Try them all and see what you like. And see where you may have physical limits (knees for me). You don't want to lock into a "plan" that you just aren't able to do. Getting to the gym may be the biggest battle.

Sounds good, don't forget your fruits and veggies :)

muhahahah .. that's so cringe worthy.

to the OP
If you need structure and your work is paying for it, really take a look at CrossFit. If you have a few in your area, visit all of them, if none of them are to your liking, don't do it.

Things to look for
- Yelp reviews with a grain of a salt but if they say the trainers are douches, usually they are.
- Meet with the owners, and coaches, see how they interact with the people in class.
- Does the place have scalable workouts for the day
- Sit through a workout and watch for people with bad form, do the coaches intervene with help and advice
- Ask about the On-Ramp process, how many total hours/ how many classes.
- Look at the posted schedule, do they have dedicated times that fit your schedule, do they have dedicated times for various levels?

I know there is crossfit, I have also heard of people being injured a lot there.
Usually that's a shared fault with the coaches and the individual. You have to be real with yourself and listen to your body.

I run in zero degree weather. Jsut dress a little warm and have the ability to derobe during run. By derobe, I mean use a zip up jacket on the outside layer. Things like that.

Curious. Where do you live? I've lived where packed snow on roads is normal for 5 months. I can see not wanting to run on that.

Have you read the fat loss sticky up top? If not, you should.

I started with Insanity to get going some, 4 weeks in now, i just joined crossfit last week, did my 3rd session today. I went and met with the owner/trainer and talked to her for a bit, my sister has been going for about 4 months and loves it. Its a bit more expensive, but classes are normally smaller and so far she has worked a lot with me one on one. I was suprised she mentioned there was a groupon out for it, so i started last week about a month before i was going to, unlimited one month for $25 bucks. Normally to go 3 days a week will be around $110, but i can live with that since its so hands on, and she is there to always direct and help, around 10 bucks a hour session.

I have learned move in correct form and movement in 3 sessions then i have in a long time in the gym.
