I think changing the topic of a thread should be a bannable offense, if it isn't already.

I think making a dumb thread should be a bannable offense, but it isn't. 🙁

The answer to two problems facing America. Fat people and energy independance.
Instead of coal or gas powered electrical plants, we have fat people powered electrical plants. Fat people come in to work, get on an excerise bike and ride. The wheels will have a small generator in them and create electricty.
So we get clean electricity and fat people loose weight.
W will run out of coal in 200 years, we will run out of oil much sooner, We will never run out of fat people.

Your ad idea is from Saturday Night Live.

Really? I didn't know, but it's obviously a good idea. I'm just tired of all the informercials.

If nobody will do it, I will make this commercial and post it on youtube. Seriously.

In fact, that's exactly what I'll do.

Well, I was wrong, it wasn't SNL, it was MadTV.

Eat less, move more.

We will if we put them all on exercise bikes.

how about we stop giving a flying f about what other people choose to do with their lives and let them suffer the consequences

because my tax dollars go straight into their man breasts.

Exactly what government program is it that is injecting your tax dollars into anyones breasts, man or woman? Last time I watched the news congress was busy arguing about whether we should even have government funded health care so I doubt many of your tax dollars are currently being used on obese people.

Our tax dollars may not be paying for it, but we all pay for it eventually through rising healthcare costs.

No, because only the ones on the bikes get fit, The rest of America will be sitting in their homes playing Xbox or Playstation using the cheap feel good electricity.

It's either that or forced liposuction then turn the fat into oil and burn it for fuel, like whale blubber.
It will make people skinny for awhile, but if we don't encourage them to be healthy they'll put the pounds back on and we just drain them again.

right, but who the f thought that was a bright idea? thats what put us in this predicament...

A the very end, the commercial guy says, "Keebler, we love fat ladies -- we're like black guys in that way."

So. True.

I was at White Rock Lake, and there was this ghetto but thin and ripped black guy. Very fit. He was with a 450 pound ghetto white girl with black and white hair. Very ugly.

I vote for subjecting obese people to gamma rays. Cancer causes people to lose weight. I'm sure it's a great idea.

They should introduce a fat person tax. Nothing motivates like money.

What about the sin taxes on smoking? They still pay $11/pack in NYC.
Being fat. Being a smoker. Being unhealthy. The penalty is BUILT-IN. Their poor decisions should not be the concern nor financial responsibility of the state.

lol j/k.

My idea is why doesn't the government run a 15 second ad on TV telling people in a very commanding, serious voice that the only way to lose weight is to EAT LESS and DO MORE!

There are millions of people who want to lose weight, but all you see on TV are pills and useless devices that won't work in a million years. There should be an ad that basically makes people want to eat less and move more. Basically make them understand the problem in a very short, concise, and loud way.

The ad would run something like this:

The first 5 seconds: pretend it's an infomercial. So start the ad with your typical "do you want to look like this".... and show pictures of fit models....

The next 5 seconds: tell them the right way to lose fat: eat less calories and burn more calories every day. This needs to be done in a "boot-camp", strict kind of way.

The last 5 seconds: squeeze as many diseases caused by obesity in the last 5 seconds, including pictures if possible. Just show people that obesity is not a trivial issue.

or if you don't want to be to graphical/scary just tell them that obesity is the cause of many problems and make them understand that food causes an addiction that takes over their bodies and minds, and that they need to free themselves from that addiction.

I think this commercial would motivate many people to get off their asses.

A similar commercial can be made about smoking.

If you scare or intimidate people, they won't listen. Remember, the desire to improve one's self in voluntary, they are not being forced to exercise. The ball is entirely in their court.

The real solution is to teach health and wellness in school, provide a balanced diet at school (no soda machines), force one hour per day of true exercise at school, and make it a shameful thing to be obese.

Just IMO.

Amazingly, there are many more obese people than all of those combined, and even more amazingly, they have greater health risks.
