GOOD knives should be hand-washed, never put in the dishwasher.
Cutco baby, Cutco...
GOOD knives should be hand-washed, never put in the dishwasher.
Yea, no kidding. I always cringe when I see a good knife in the dishwasher, or stuck in a draining basket with the forks and spoons. They need to be washed, dried, and put in their block right away.
Steak knives are not "good knives." They are silverware, not tools for cooking. Steak knives go in the silverware drawer not, some useless block of wood taking up space on the counter that could be used for doing work.![]()

Edit:
and these are cheap ones. I didn't want to go too ridiculous with the pricing. These are just a bit more than the ones I got for my mother.

My mom once came over to my house for a party and she used my Hattori cleaver to chop a cross ribs (made a few small ding/bent on blade edge), then throw it in my utility drawer after she washed.Yea, no kidding. I was flabbergasted once I saw my Hattori, but what can I do because the damage is already done. It was my fault for letting my mom helped my ex with the prep.

If you need anything more than a cheap serrated knife with a good handle you're cooking Your steak wrong.
Use a good stone and a steel and, your blade will be as good as new. No harm done, just educate your mom.
