I could do 256 u/d, but my surfing habits would change. I've never had less that 1M/128k for broadband and that was friggin' dandy coming from 33.1.

Those that say you couldn't live without 2Mb+, have you ever even seen modem that plugs into a phone line? - or are you too busy with your Strydex pads, training wheels, and Bop magazines?

Umm yeah that is exactly why I do NOT want to ever go back to those days. Not only have I seen a modem that uses a phone line I still install them on some of our store computers that dial directly into our office. Also, I am well beyond a teenager.

You'd be surprised..if you did get stuck with dialup, you'd be thrilled to get 1.5/256..lol

 
I'm sure basic DSL would be fine. It's great for standard web browsing and email and such. Curently have %M down with timewarner but it's wasted on me since I don't do any hardcore gaming or anything like that.
 
fast enough to check email... so maybe 56k. Rarely on the net outside work. Of course work just got me cingular 3g wireless card which is about twice as fast as my modem. so thats cool.
 
I could live with 1500/128 like I started with almost 10 years ago. As long as it's an always on low latency connection web browsing and gaming would be fine on a connection like that.
 
I have 768. I keep getting put on hold every time I ask for the free upgrade. What's basic Verizon now, 1.5 or 3?
