A friend brought some for breakfast at camp one morning and the convenience really made it worthwhile. I don't know that it costs that much more either. He claims to have got the box of 15 slices for $2.50.

You realize....we didn't have that stuff until the Barenaked Ladies suggested it in a song.

I recently bought a box of precooked bacon. It's actually very good. Just heat them up in the microwave for a short time, and they come out crispy and delicious! Great for sandwiches or with your breakfast.
But Chryso is right, the wondrous bacon scent isn't the same...

i get the big box made by hormel from sam's club.... if you don't finish it, put it in the freezer.

i make penne pasta with bacon and asparagus (sea salt for flavour) with it. delicious....

I have seen this but would much rather take the time to fry the bacon the old fashion way. I love the smell and the wonderful crispiness that comes with cooking it that way. Plus, I like to then fry some eggs in a bit of the grease afterward. (Gross, I know, but it is how I remember my gramma making eggs!)

If by "gross" you mean "totally awesome", then yes, I agree.

+1 Bacon.

Did you ever look to see how much precooked bacon costs per pound? It's astronomical.

I am so happy others know the joy of this wonderful "cooking" method! ;)
I was expecting the exact opposite response from posters!
MMmmm... I think I want some bacon and eggs. The funny thing is that I am having dinner with my mom at a vegeterian restaurant tonight! Perhaps the fried bacon and eggs will be a bedtime snack!

This thread made me realize that I haven't had bacon in probably a year or so. That's going to change this weekend.

Homer: Are you saying you're never going to eat any animal again? What about bacon?
Lisa: No.
Homer: Ham?
Lisa: No.
Homer: Pork chops?
Lisa: Dad, those all come from the same animal.
Homer: Heh heh heh. Ooh, yeah, right, Lisa. (waving fingers) A wonderful, magical animal.

it's not microwave food, it's actual real bacon that you can reheat. you can heat it up on the stove/grill too.

i'm liking not having the grease splatters and mess you get cooking bacon from raw on the stove.

I have never tried pre-cooked pork bacon, but lately I have been loving turkey bacon!
