speakers

my right front speaker from my ACS-54 fell off my desk one too many times today... now only my left speaker is working (I dont have the rear speakers hooked up currenty) but the volume control on my right speaker still controls the left speaker....
I think I killed it 🙁
there is also a pop sound coming out of the left speaker each time a sound(IM sound, etc) ends
I dont think it's any of the cabling due to the fact that the volume control still works
anyways...I may try and dissect this setup later and fix it...
but for now I guess I just need recommendations for a new speaker set to get

surround sound was cool but it's not a necessity(I dont play many games and I dont know what else they are good for)

I just want really good quality for a good price... what do you think?

The logitech z560s are the nicest speakers out. They are rated at 400w RMS and they are about $150.

I'm also looking for some speakers, hate to but in on your thread but I thought I would just post a question too. I'm looking for a good 2.1 setup for 100 bucks max. Doesn't have to cost a hundred dollars but they can. I know the kiplish (hmmmm did I spell that right) setup is good but they cost 175 and I don't think thats reasonable. Any suggestions on a 2.1 setup I don't have room for a 4.1 setup.

depends
if I buy right now... hmm 50 to 75... if I live with this crappy audio for a few weeks and another paycheck.. maybe up to 150... so maybe some suggestions in both price ranges? thanks

thanks jcmkk, I'll take a look
no prob rickten

edit
hah... I typed the speakers you suggested into google jcmkk and anandtech's audio page came up as the first hit

There was a thread about how they arent actually 400W RMS. I'm too lazy to search for it, though.

I was gonna say get a nice receiver and speakers, but that will cost $$$

How picky on quality are you, everyone says Klipsch is nice but they don't seem to be worth it to me.

hmm, I don't know astroview
these acs 54 were nice but there always seemed to be something not quite right about them
so I want something better than them definately
I'm definately not an audiophile... I'm probably tone deaf too... heh

The Klipsch ProMedia's are nice....but if the Logitechs were out when I was speaker shopping, I would definitly have gotten them. Comparable sound for less money is always good in my book 😉
