I didn't know where to take my question, so I decided to try here. We are looking for an inexpensive set of speakers to use on our TV. The reason is it is in a large room that is a dining and living room combined. The TV sits right in the middle and all the sound goes out the back of the TV. We bought a $100 set of Logitech speakers, but are taking them back because we don't want the subwoofer. I was almost set on one or two sets of speakers I saw on the internet, but saw that they have two plugs. Does anyone have a recommendation for what we should look for in getting a set of speakers for our television? Would these with double plugs work on a TV?

I was looking at these two sets on Newegg.com:

yeah, just get 1/8" miniplug to rca cable converters, and you should be good. I didn't waste my time reading the paragraph you posted, though, sorry.

It isn't a big screen tv, a 27 inch screen.

Here is the way the outlets are:

There are connectors on the front and back. On the front there are 3, input2 (with head phone icon), VIDEO, (MONO)L-AUDIO-R. These are for RCA jacks except for the head phone one. We were able to plug regular computer speakers into the head phone jack on this front connector.

On the back there are 3 rows, each has VIDEO, L-AUDIO- R (3 connectors)

The first row is Monitor out for video, and Audio L & R, the next row is the same grouping for input2, and the third row is the same grouping for input1. These are all for RCA jacks.

Err... it sounds like you would like to cover quite a bit of space with sound. The thing is I don't think those two small speakers you selected would have the wattage to do that. PC speakers are near field speakers, meaning they're designed to be right in front of you, like on a desk. Those speakers won't be powerful enough or sound good if you're listening to them from a couch 10 feet away.
I don't know what cheap speakers would be good for a room like that though... I personally would go quality over cheapness. What's your budget?
