Speakers near a DLP

So a co-worker of mine picked up a DLP TV at Best Buy over the weekend and he asked me if shielded speakers were required near a DLP?

From what I gather, he wants to put the center channel under the TV. The speaker is for home theater (said the brand was Mirage) so I'd assume it has some shielding already. But since I wasn't sure I figured I'd throw it out and see if anyone here has thoughts.

Should not matter. Shielding is an issue for CRT and maybe plasma. Usually centre channel come shielded, but you can check the manufacturer's website to make sure.
 
I have an LCoS (DLP-like) display surrounded by two _large_ towers (PSB T65s) and a rather beefy center (PSB C60). No problems as far as I can tell.

As long as he is ok with the look. MTM setup was the best compromise for centre channel duty. He is not thinking of turning it on its side is he? That would be bad.

Horisontally (in this case) Midrange-Tweeter-Midrange, most centre speakers are setup that way as a compromise.
