Everything changed all of a sudden. I have more money to spend on speakers.
so now im looking at speakers up to about $130.

I have these that im looking at so far:
BA4800
Z560
Promedia 4.1

Any other's you guys recommend i look at?
 
Go for the Promedia 4.1's, simply incredible quality, and when if you get a chance to setup all of these systems side by side, you will notice that the Promedia's sound is simply of a higher quality. Trust me, I am into ultra high end audio and I can tell the incredibly tiny differences that most people do not notice.
 
Hmm, if you are considering the Klipsch ProMedia 4.1s for $130, let me know from where--I want a 3rd set!!

Anyway, definately go with the Logitec z560s. You won't be disappointed. My friend got a pair and we used 16 gauge Monster cable ... sounds very impressive.

Well, speaker selection should be based on the user...best case would be to take each set home and see which one sounds the best to the user.

He also has a spending limit of $130 so the PM 4.1s become out of the question.
 
I've had a pair of promedia 4.1's for about a year now, and they really are excellent, I can't tell you how many times I've been complimented on their quality. Three of my friends have bought them since I've had them as well. The only complaint I have about them (and its fairly minor) is they are highly sucseptible to outside interference (i.e. cell phones, monitors, etc...) but other than that, I have nothing but praise for them.

Hmm, that's really odd. I have 2 sets of the PM 4.1s with 2 monitors... no interference. I basically always use my cell phone and still no problems. I'm wondering what you mean by interference and where are you living (dorm, apt, house)??

Id agree that the Z560s are your best choice given your price range. The Klipschs are beautiful, but apparently more than you are willing to spend. The Logitech's are nothing to sneeze at though, dont worry.
 
given your price range, the logitechs will rock for you. the ba4800's are also very nice speakers, but the logitechs have a ton of power and the sub maintains good clarity at high volumes.
 
I would have to agree, you cannot get the Promedia 4.1 for much under $280, but for the $130 price range, definetly go for the Z560's.
 
First i must apologize for putting the Promedia 4.1's on that list. The lowest i've found them for is $299. 😱
So you guys can't think of anything better than the z560's? I am not going to watch dvd's on my computer so id rather get some higher quality 4.1's than 5.1's.

What system are you running in your home theatre? If you don't have one, you're not, and if it's anything less than a Wilson WAMM VIIA, Grand Slamm X-1 setup, Avalon Sentinel setup, B&W Nautilus setup, Egglestonworks Ivy, etc. that's not quite a true statement. Sennheiser Orphs, even? Sony SCD-1? Burmester 969? Theta Casablanca I/II (II with Xtreme 24/384 DAC cards?)? Mark Levinson No. 32? Bi-amping? Tri-amping? dCS 24/192 digital upsamplers? Krell MRAs?

As for my high end theater, I have the full Wilson Audio setup with the Mark Levinson setup. I had them build the theater room to maximize the sound effects. If you absolutely insist, I can put up the whole system, but I do not feel like it now.
 
The BA4800s are starting to show their age. They've been out for some 2 years now. BestBuy use to sell them for $99, and at that price, were an awesome deal. Between the Z560s and PM4.1s, I'd lean towards the Klipsch speakers, simply because of their reputation. I know that the BA4800s are better than the old Klipsch V2-400s, but Klipsch has since improved the mid-range. The whole debate won't matter when Boston's BA7800s become available for $250, though. They blow the 4.1s out of the water.
 
In all seriousness, how loud will you actually use the speakers? If you don't want to blow your roof off you don't need to spend that much. bragging rights are nice and all but if your real world use will not be shaking your house, you could get the Z540's for $90 less than the Z560's and still have good, quality audio. Use that $90 on a high end sound card, seeing as you use onboard audio anyway.

Personally I'd rather have the Z540's on a Hercules Game Theater XP($89 on pricewatch) than the 560's with onboard audio for the same price. Just my 2 cents though.

Haha, an ultra high-end user would not even consider a set of multimedia speakers for a computer! They would suggest buying some bookshelf speakers or more and a nice receiver. No Real audiophile would really be able to stand listening to the inferiority of the promedias. And if you have really heard them side by side instead of trying to convince other people to buy them because you own them and spent so much money on them, you would realize that Logitech made some speakers which are better than the Promedia 4.1's. Don't let price deceive you, Logitech entered the game only recently so their prices are low, but if they continue releasing speakers like the z560s we may be looking at some klipsch-like pricing...
 
I don't like the klipsch myself. lacking mids, too much in the highs, too much bass.

but that's just me.

Uh, the Klipsch stuff is a world better than the defacto Altec Lansing kerapola
that people used to buy.

As for Paradigms, I'm surprised you would dis the Klipsch, since they are
reminiscent of the Klipsch (er vice versa.) Yeah, yeah, yeah, I know they
are not synonymous, but they have a similar character.

(I'm listening to Paradigm Active/20's
here, and have the Klipsch 2.1's at work.)

So, I think people gave good advice. I'd just like to defend the
Klipsch as a cut above. They rock. And the bass extension is good.
I used to be the world's biggest Klipsch basher, but their ProMedia
stuff is very good. If you don't need 4.1 or 5.1, then the 2.1's are
a good choice for a system.
