I got some Logitech X-230's for the Soyo computer after having Boston Acoustic speakers from 1997. These things are pretty cool. Although they cant match the speaker output of my 4.1 Altec Lansings, the subwoofer is definitely much better without any port noise unlike the Altecs. However, I also notice that when the song gets really low, the speakers distort really badly. The speakers connect to some Realtek audio codec on my mobo. It goes through some fancy built in sound equalizer jazz, but I have most of that turned off. Either way, my old speakers didn't do that. Do these X-230s have that problem alot?

from my experience in listening to the x230s for a short period at a friend's house, I believe that lower bass sounds muddy and generally unpleasant.

its very low end stuff. so yes, its bass abilities are basically worthless. turn that bass knob down, and dont turn up the volume. they've flashed it all up, but the recipe for good sound hasnt changed for years now. good big heavy well built speaker boxes and big subwoofers are what you need for good bass. and none of that weenie tiny drivers trying to fill in mid range duties, its making a hard job even harder:p sillyness for looks.
