Speaker noise with D-link 650+ wireless card

Whenever my D-link dwl-650+ 802.11b wireless card is enabled my laptop speakers start to make a rythmic beeping noise. The laptop is a Compaq presario 1200-xl111. Does anyone have any ideas how to stop the noise? I also havn't had a chance to test if the card actually connects to a network. I got it for use at college in two weeks. Any help or advice would be great...

had the same problem with an HP pavilion laptop. I sent it back, all they did was flash a new BIOS and it's fixed now.... never really figgured out what they changed in the BIOS.

Flashed to the newest bios on the laptop... checked for irq conflicts... installed all the latest critical updates and drivers for xp... the problem still persist... I tried using the card in another compaq presario that was slightly newer, running win98, and got the same problem. I think I am just gonna give up and return the card to Best Buy.
