I am trying to hook up my receiver to my sound card (Philips Rhythmic Edge PSC703) through the spdif. I don't have a digital receiver but just a plain pro logic surround sound receiver. It has a rca spdif. So do I just buy a splitter and plug the other end into a selection on the back of the receiver like i was hooking up a dvd player by left and right channels? The software says that I can select 3 different kinds of spdif configurations: right and left front, right and left rear, and ac3 dts passthrough. Which one do I choose?

Seems pretty obvious you'd use the AC3 dolby channel SPDIF coaxial line directly to your receiver. Your receiver will then decode the digital signal into 5.1 descrete audio for your listening needs.

In other words... Use a single digital cable connected to the AC3 out on your sound card - to the spdif input on your receiver.
