From my understanding, Shuttle XPC's such as the SN45G only come with optical SPDIF digital sound out. My speakers take coaxial/RCA SPDIF sound input. I found a site that carries an adapter, but they charge $20+ about $4 more for ground shipping. Any cheaper place to get such an adapter?

not worth it. the quality of the sound from the converter will be no better than that of your mobo's own analogue output.

So even though the input and outputs are both digital, the sound quality will deteriorate a lot?

No, that idiot doesn't know wtf he's talking about. It's a digital converter, the signal remains digital. There will be no degredation of sound. That's really not that expensive for such a nice clean looking unit.

Nebor, thanks. Very reassuring to know that digital-->digital results in no degredation.

John433i: beautiful! $15 isn't bad at all. I should have thought of checking out the Radio Shack :) Looks like I'll buy one as soon as I get my SN45G :)
