Spax screws are the best

I had some shutters crack and I am replacing them.
Last time I removed them 10 years ago was to paint them and the plastic screws things that were holding them all broke while I removed them and I didn’t expect to be able to paint them.
Only reason I chose spax was their color was the same green as our painted shutters.
These have been holding them for 10 years. Of the 36 I removed only one had a time bit of corrosion on it.

spax and GRK and the fasten master stuff, like the timberLok, LedgerLok, etc.

life is too short to suffer another shitty fastener.

I'm SO over phillips screws for most things. Spax is my go-to for construction-grade screws. That torx-style head is great. GRK is also OK, but I used some of their smaller ones a few years back...the bit was tiny...and, of course, near the end of the project, when trying to put one into some wood where I had to hold the wood just so while driving the screw...the bit jumped out of the screw and went through my thumbnail...all the way to the bone. o_O I cussed a bit...wrapped a paper towel around it to staunch the blood...and went back to work. I finally cleaned and bandaged it when I was done.

I don't think drilling your finger has much to do with the screws you were using. I'm going to go ahead and call it operator error.
I'll also take this moment to note that screw gun wounds really suck. Ground meat is bad enough, but the added bits of metal that ride in with the bit make it an amazingly unpleasant experience.

Definitely operator error...no doubt about it.
