I bought a 350w power supply for newegg and it's worked great for about 6 months until one day I noticed I couldn't start my computer up.

Long story short, I found out that if I unplugged the power cable from the back of the power supply for 10 seconds and plug it back in, I was able to start it up again. Anyone know what the problem is? It's becoming a hassle to keep unplugging/plugging.

I switched to a generic power supply and everything works normally. I would stick with the generic one, but its fan is making this annoying rickety noise.

Mine used to do that. If you listen real carefully when you unplug the power cord, you can hear a little noise which almost sounds like capacitors discharging or something of that sort. You could always get into the habbit of turning your surge protector off when your computer goes off and then turn everything back on...or you could check that the power supply doesn't have any strange voltage things with it (power plug voltage going low or high) which might cause it to do that... Mine stopped doing it after a while (a month maybe? i don't know, i don't turn my computer off that much) and it hasn't done it again.

thanks.. i switched back to my old ps and it's working like normal again. i changed outlets but i don't know if that was the solution.. i haven't changed any settings on the ps since i first got it, but if it works, it works.

i did remember hearing something like a spark when i would plug the cord back into the ps though..
