Someone started playing True this morning lol. Now I have to make an eighties thread. A much simpler time for me with Saturday morning cartoons

Why all the whitebread bands? No love for Michael Jackson, Prince, Commodores, Marvin Gaye?

This is obviously Depeche Mode. They are talented and still going strong today, the rest are for the most part one hit/album wonders. Guns n Roses and Metallica are a completely different genre.

After seeing Wake me up before you go go video, I was shocked to find out George Michael was gay.

Agreed 100% (although Duran Duran are still around).

I chose Tears for Fears based on the one really good album (Songs from the Big Chair). During that time I had a much bigger interest in The Smiths.

 Tears for Fears was a one hit wonder?

BTW-I voted Tears for Fears simply for Mad World and Change. Those are two of the best songs ever written.

Wouldn't be ashamed to have any of those on my 80's mix tape. Guns n' Roses Appetite for Destruction is one of the top 5 albums of the 80's, IMHO.

This was difficult. All good bands. I voted for Metallica. Damn I miss the 80's and early 90's now:(

It's a toss up between Duran Duran and Tears for Fears. Two of my favorite DD songs are actually 90s songs, not 80s. "Everybody Wants to Rule the World" by TFF just recently made a resurgence in the movie trailer for Dracula Untold. Of course, "Mad World" from Donnie Darko and Gears of War commercial is also one of my favorite.
