My guess is that they get the link to a persons profile, and got some bot to search all of them and make a file will all text on the 'email' field. Just my guess 😕

just like to quip in that I got this spam too. you know, I never worried about leaving my email available here at AT, or at the other two forums I frequent, because I figured no one would ever go through the trouble of looking through the profiles of 90,000 members to collect some addy's. I thought it was safe; guess not (through no fault of AT). Damn, it must have taken him forever to go through and grab everyone's emails, wouldn't it?

Spam in general just gets my goat. Has anyone in the history of spam EVER clicked on it thinking, "Hey, This looks legit!"?? I somehow doubt it. I almost think that spammers do it for the soul purpose of ANNOYING ME.

Got the same crap also, I figgured it could only be ONE place on that list that had my REAL address.
Tom's hardware and ZD net both have my OLD address, thus I figgured it had to be HERE.
Dammed, has this SCUM been banned yet ? I would assume so.
Hate to do it but gotta change my Profile.
But now , it's like closing the Barn Door AFTER, the Animals got out.
