I mean, it is a scam, in that they don't have a video of anyone masturbating, and they're threatening people to get money out of them by way of sharing a password from one of many hacks years ago to "prove" their legitimacy.
Is that somehow not a scam?
The very definition.

I have zero spam in the two accounts I mainly use. Might be some in gmail, Haven't logged into that for a couple years, but it was always pretty spam free.

Most of my accounts are pretty spam free except for my business one (which is where this one arrived in droves), and an alias I once used, mike-adobe@mydomainname, guess which company I used that alias for!

I think @zinfamous is remembering the first version of this kind of e-mail which was a "I've got into your stuff, see, this [XXXXXXX] is what your password is!" followed by IIRC extortion, then it "evolved" into this type that the OP is about. I certainly haven't seen the genuine password leakage one in ages.

yeah fair, it's still a scam. I guess should have focused more on that it's actual blackmail when they are providing documented proof that they have actually compromised something, rather than just lying about having some personal data.

You should have asked them to prove it by describing what you were wearing, what who you were sitting on, unique physical identifiers, etc.
This but make it really fucking awkward.

"What was I wearing then? Did you like it? Do you know what I'm wearing now? What are you wearing?! Hmmm, I like that? Do you want to know what I'm doing right now...? "

Don't think I'd be doing any of that "activity" that's mentioned in these spam emails.

I've had a catheter in since last August.

(BTW,it's no fun dealing with this stupid catheter..)

Your appropriate response to the spammer, if you were to choose to respond, would be, “would you like to see my catheter?”

I'd be like cool - can I get a copy of the video? I could use it to send on some of my dating apps when talking to like minded kink people and it gets to that point. It's a lot harder to record yourself masturbating and keep a good angle going holding the phone at the same time you are jacking off, so honestly, that would be a big help.

I got one saying they hacked my phone camera once and said what I was doing was disgusting. Seemed like an especially stupid scam since all you'd really see is someone's face if you hacked their front camera on their phone.
