I think this goes beyond Mods and starts at the account creating process. What is being done or in place to deter these spam and advertising deplorables?
I think that the powers-that-be do a fairly decent job already. But with ChatGPT able to pass some turing tests, I'm not sure what more can be done a-priory, without being a detriment to regular users.
Ever since the backend upgrade I've just been hitting ignore and tuned my feed of posts back to what it was before the upgrade. I think the upgrade zapped some deterrents and opened the floodgates for what we see today.
It's worse than I can remember. Might not be for others, who knows, but this last one I just deleted the email and didn't even report it. It's almost become like a job to report the bs
I got an email saying you replied to this thread and your post was in the email. Only your posts I consider spam XD but really, the content I noticed was spam and I just deleted it and didn't report it, emails aren't spam
