Today i woke up and my PC which served me 4 years reliably is dead.

The board, an old X48 dfi board doesnt even POST anymore. (I tried already anything thinkable, CMOS clears etc...looks like certain parts of the MoBo dont get power)

In Spain we have about 3-4 power outages every fricking weak. Not long ones, but outages which usually last about a minute or so and then the power comes up again.(I know we had one yesterday while i was sleeping because A/C is always off after a power outage).

I also noticed that sometimes after an outage it comes on for a sec, off again for a sec and then on again...and this is what killed my PC, respective the power regulators on the board, i am almost certain.

NOTE: To avoid this in the future, to turn the power switch OFF instead of just shutting down the computer so the board doesn't get power.

/RANT OFF....bad day today

Edit: PSU works, tested
There are some orange lights on the board which light up too, but the "post code diagnostic led" doesnt even show any codes, it doesnt post at all.

Main Power LED and HD led are on all the time.I also tried several CMOS clear tricks, jumpers, flipping battery, connecting PS2 keyboard etc..nothing..

It may be time to invest in a UPS my man, that will cushion the poor PC from all those power fluctuations. As for this one, I dunno, youve tried a bit of stuff already. i would probably strip it out of the case, strip it down to bare essentials and go from there, if it still wont post, any one of those bare essentials may be bad and its time to start swapping parts.

Surprised you didn't get a UPS sooner with those crazy brownouts.
My apartment complex in Dallas is quite bad in this regard, so I have 3 of 'em protecting all my rigs.

Assume local power is 220v AC, and at 50 or 60Hz. You absoluely need a compatible UPS.

Yeah, there is only so much punishment a PSU in a computer can take. The PSU is what cushions the sensitive computer parts from power spikes, fluctuations, brownouts and surges, but even the best ones can only handle so much and within a certain tolerance. A UPS can handle a TON more, and conditions the power going into the machine (even when the batteries are dead and need replacing, making it still worthwhile having the UPS between the wall and the machine at this point) so it will make your PSU work less, and last infinitely longer.

Shutting down when you are done and turning off the powerstrip is a good idea also.

UPS is a good idea.
