In case you are wondering what is realy going on in the video here is a narative:

  • The video starts out with Stolz using a manual can opener to open a can of clearly expired SpaghetiO’s. It takes her two minutes to do so because she has trouble using the can opener.

  • You forgot to mention she doesn't have the required muscle development to open said can.

I'm 3.5 minutes in and have it paused. I can only take so much at one time. I do want to question how someone can be so inept with a can opener. It's not exactly complicated machinery :^S

lol @ people taking this as some representation of modern art. It's just some stupid hipster bitch performing in front of a few people. She's never going to be a successful artist.

Too late! :^P

Honestly, it isn't that bad from a NSFW perspective, but it's fuckin' terrible art. I consider myself sympathetic to alternative art styles, but c'mon. That's ridiculous and shocking for the sole purpose of being ridiculous and shocking. No legitimate statement was made other than to say "Look how alternative I am".

Stand clear of the splash radius ! :^D

Where to begin? I felt that the visuals presented were very simultaneously striking as well as domesticated. The entire process while trans formative was a physical representation of the artist’s inner dialectic, juxtaposing saffron spirituality and utilitarian objects in a compromised setting.

The beginning of the performance left a lot to be desired, but as the artist's struggle to open the can continues one feels a sense of frustration about the Bush administration and a sobering reminder of post 9/11 neo-colonialism, it mitigates the very phallocentric nature of neo-culture in John Asscroft’s aMeRIkkkA, where every wardrobe malfunction becomes a gesture of the feminine violent against a landscape of testicular domination.

The cutting of the jeans with scissors represents the oppression/repression of Womyn by straight white males, and the urinating on floor is a cyclically temporal Wiccan interpretive dance that politicized polarizing gender resistance. Interesing to note is how the rather ethnocentric crowd watches this sumptuous feast of post-Derridian brio-cum-angst silently like a shtetl of schmatte-clad yentas.

Wtf, Really? o_O  I dont know if this was a serious post. But if that is what you saw, then I need what you are smoking.

thats art?

what made me laugh was how a few in the audience were trying NOT to laugh but most were trying to look like it was boring and they didn't care. really it was rather odd..

I thought that look was because they were bored. And they were trying not to show that they were embarrassed for her. Then at the end they acted like they were blown away with it because that's what they thought they were supposed to do. One guy even said "yeah! art!" Just a bunch of people trying too hard to be cultured and thinking they're the only one who doesn't enjoy what they're doing.

And this is a perfect example of why I think most modern art is dogshit. Comparing this to a rembrandt or a monet is bullshit and calling it "art" is a farce. All I saw was a grown up child playing with her food and then not making it to the bathroom in time to piss.

That was performance art, a far cry from traditional art. I can't stand it, don't want to, and wish people would knock it off.

perhaps you are right. the few of the guys looked just stunned to see a real vagina. one girl was laughing and had a look of "is she nuts".

most looked bored. i put it off as they were trying to look bored because i thought part of the hipstar culture was err not to care.

the odd thing i find is that nearly all hipstars look alike and all have ipods.

i got into a argument in college with a guy who was into performance art. i mentioned how it was not something i enjoy and how i prefer the classic paintings, statues etc. he ragged on me for about 20 minutes in front of a bunch of people.

it was rather amusing. he was trying his damnedest to show how hip and different he was that the people he was trying to impress called him a fool...though they called me a idiot for nit likeing it heh

edit: thinking about it made me remember what exactly started the conversation. i was a Freshmen/SR (high school) at NIU in Dekalb. at the time they were going to honor MLK and put up this to honor him. i asked why not just put up a statue or a bust with something talking about him. wich got a argument started on alternative "art"

I'm more confused how this can be called art. That's the biggest crock that I can see.

oh god i hate these kind of people. they scream for their uniqueness yet they look like clones of each other. they think their thoughts are soooo fucking deep, no one could ever comprehend them... except it's some shit they read in a book written by a dude 50 to 100 years ago. What I don't get is if they are so nihilistic, why do they buy such name brand and shiny bauble kind of crap?

As somewhat of an artist myself, I am insulted. I've been to many of these types of shows, and am more intrigued by the crowd. Some perfart has merit, most of it is shit, which is OK in an nihilist manner, but it lacks talent, and deeper meaning. You want to see vulgarity for vulgarity's sake you go see GG Alin (who is now dead.) Just understand that you are not witnessing art, you are witnessing vulgarity.

So many dumb kids with no direction think that art is the way to go because they don't like or fit into the 9 to 5 world, which is alright. However, they clog up the scene, and push boundaries no one ever cared about in the first place. An artist who looks to see art looks at the process, not necessarily the final product. A dumb kid just wishes to create spectacle.

i don't get the whole "lets be emotionless and hate on everything because we're nihilistic" I'm rather nihilistic, I believe there is no meaning to life, that we create and associate all things with a value made up in our heads, but I actually think that's fucking awesome. Masters of our own destiny, able to do anything, etc etc. Why would anyone want to be an emotionless pit of shit when you're the master of your own destiny?
