space battles

Enterprise vs Scimitar in the Bassen Rift was entertaining, though a bit annoying.
Cloaked ships are quite easy to find and hit, if you don't bother with all this "targeting lock" BS.

They also did a decent job with the First Contact battle.

Fan-created sequence, a mish-mash of various series.

BSG... most notably the one where they were rescuing the people in new caprica

exodus pt 2 was probably the only considerably long space battle of the series not counting resurrection ship pt 2. I prefer reserection ship 2 over exodus though.

I find that BSG has a serious lack of combat ships though
-Battlestar
-Viper mk II
-Viper mk VI
-Raptor
-Stealthstar
-Blackbird
-Basestar
-Cylon raider
-Cylon heavy raider

i found that Wolf 359 lacked in quality mainly because little of the battle was actually shown on screen.

Agreed on both counts. The (first?) siege of atlantis at the end of season 1 (or was it two?) was EPIC.

The liberation of new caprica was similarly amazing.

IIRC, DS9 had some good ones.
Serenity has an awesome one!
Star trek II had one of the all time best, even if it was between two ships.

Uh, WOLF 359, anyone??

That wasn't a battle, it was a slaughter.

Besides, they didn't show much of it on the show. Just the aftermath.

yeah, it was like "oh hai, here's the floating debris that was once starfleet. lolborg kekeke."

Old school? Star Wars, attack on the Death Star (first one, especially)...

Every star wars film except phantom menace has an amazing sci-fi battle, really.

The first episode of Deep Space Nine showed a minute or so of the "battle". Honestly, they just got raped. What was it? 40 ships and not even a dent?

Star Trek: First Contact. When the Enterprise drops out of warp and launches quantum torpedos, then Picard takes command. Very nice sequence.

Star Wars: Return of the Jedi. Pretty epic final battle.

Deep Space Nine. A bunch of Dominion vs. Federation battles.

Too bad no sound effects.

spacebattles.com used to have some cool stuff

Looks like they still have the stuff up.

BSG Season 4 premiere had a good battle at the beginning, but, like an earlier poster mentioned, it lasted only a few minutes. Still, it looked great in HD!

you forget something invisible, puts out almost no traceable signature, how are you going to see it?

And your answer is wrong, becuase space is very big.

I doubt ships are less then 10 km apart when those fighting scene goes on.

As for space fights, i like anime. 😛
But if we had to pick a non anime, probably star trek series.
