sp2

I have a ahtlon 3800+, k8n sli, 2gb ram, 7800 gtx and my university wont let me connect to the internet unless i get sp2. I remember that sp2 used to cause bsod in many 3d games for ppl who had a64 and an nvidia card.

Ppl had to modify the boot.ini file to stop this problem. Does sp2 still cause instability in games? I would rather use sp1 but i have no choice

well i remember ppl who had a64, nvidia, sp2 had problems in unreal 2004. Bsod upon exiting the game. Was a widespread issue in their forums. It happend to me too. would cause bsod while playing hl2. After i reformatted and switched to sp1 no bsod in ut2004 upon exit and no problems in hl2 either,l

UT2k4 happens to be one of my most played games. It has never crashed.

I've built two other Athlon 64 machines for friends and they've never had problems either. In fact, I've never heard of any problems with SP2.

man this is lame. I tried to activate windows and it says i exceeded the number of time i can activate it. They say that i need to enter a new serial number. Does this mean i have to buy a new liscence? If that is the case, ms can go and @#$! them selves

Just call Microsoft.

Righto, it doesn't say you CAN'T activate it at all, it says you can't over the internet. So give them a jingle, it only takes a minute or two.

I would reinstalled windows with SP2 integrated. If you had your system for a while then installing SP2 will cause problems. Even installing SP2 on top of windows right after windows installation is still not as good as integrated SP2.

even if you do need to get a new windows serial number, most universities and colleges sell them to students for cheap.
I got mine for $5 a copy at the campus computer store. There should be a similar deal whereever you go.

well, on eMule or Azureus, it's FREE. 🙂
And you can get a volume license key (VLK) so you never have to activate. All you have to do is google "windows update workaround" and click on the boingboing.net and update that way.
