Since installing SP2 my boot times have increase alot... Before installing on the Windows XP boot screen it would load in about 1 second. IE 1 little block would pop up on the loading meter and then it would load up. Now the entire little bar goes across my screen like 5 times... Any one else seeing these much slower boot times?

Yes but I think once XP optimizes the new files the boot times will decrease again.

Hmm so you think after a couple weeks it will get a bit faster? That would be good. It seems like the Hard drive is getting hit alot more than it did before too. Meaning it makes alot more seeks noise than before. Hmmm maybe a degrag would help. I will see if its real fragmented right now.

I'd say so. I'm in the same position as you so I'll be keeping an eye on it for a while. Also I was about to suggest a defrag of C:\ but I see you're already going to do that. :)

Yeah defrag didn't seem to help much. I just counted the number of times the bar passes and its at 8... Its about as slow as when I load from my old 40GB Maxtor... Though obviously once im into windows the Raptor boot is much quicker.

Had a similar problem after installing SP2 on friends machine. Didn't bother tho check but I believe both your boards have the same chipset (nforce 250GB). Problem went away after installing the latest nvidia drivers. Don't know if this will help you because I figured it was the IDE driver that did the trick.

hmmm well I have the 4.24 drivers which are the latest on NV's site. I downloaded the 4.27 which are the same as 4.24 according to NV just to be sure. But still takes 8 passes before it loads :(

Actually i noticed the same thing after installing SP2...I use TuneXP 1.5 to speed up boot times, which helps significantly.

This helped a little bit. Down to 3.5 passes. Which is still nothing compared to just 1 little section of the bar haha. I will play with a few more things and see how it goes.

Thanks again though.
