I have heard of some imperfection of SP2. It's still tempting to me, for all those enhancement and bug fixes. So I put one of my side computer on test. It seem fine at first. But then...
whenever I click on property for a file or right click to get a file's context menu, the explorer just freeze. I have to end it on task. And it just keeps happening.

Anyone any idea?

I installed SP2 on one computer on Thursday and another on Thursday.

I am not aware of any problems.

I installed sp2 on two system. On my system it worked great but when I installed it on my sisters comp it messed it up. Most of the things in control panel refused to load and I could not load the firewall settings. After I reformated her comp it worked fine.

I installed SP2 on my rig last night, and so far nothing mind boggling wrong here yet.

i dont advise installing it on anything other than a test machine and even before then i would ghost it so that you can go back to a working installation. i swear its about 50-50 on people loving this and people hating it. ive heard some horror stories about peoples computers being trashed that is gonna make me hold off on this SP for at least another 6 months.

Are you online?

...IE sometimes lags looking for Verisign Class3SoftwarePublishers ...the certificate revocation list ...you don't need sp2 to see this happen ...just an updated sp1 will cause it. If you're not connected to the internet and haven't already downloaded it, it will hang.

installed it on my laptop and my sister's laptop a few days ago. no problems on either systems yet. I have noticed IE seems to take a bit longer to load up stuff recently, and the built in popup blocker is far from perfect.

holding off on loading it onto our main workstations for now

Uninstall any add-ins like compression utilities or any other utilities that would show up in that context menu - codec packs, compression utils, antivirus utils (temporarily!), etc.

Also, does this happen in safe mode too?

Refused to boot again after the mandatory restart on windows xp home. No loss, sold the laptop instead. Never had any problems that i've noticed with xp sp1 ontop of a slipstream sp1 install.

This time I installed SP2 in my main PC. Once again, it preveals that SP2 doesn't fit for me... ~_~

AND it was a fresh installation, before any other software installed!

Besides browsing, any other activity I do will freeze my computer. I have to terminate explorer in Task Manager every time it freezes.

SP1 here I come...

Same advice as before - uninstall any and all third party Explorer add-ins.
