Sp2 and network connection

I'm having such a hard time with connection issues. SP2 is giving me all this BS junk on my network connection. It says unplugged and connected every now and then. I can't go online at times unless i reboot like 5 times then it connects. I never had this issue with normal xp pro. but with sp2 i'm getting all this crap. i recently reformated and thought it was a great idea. guess not. i need a quick fix or ways to make it better. someone please help. thanks a lot.
 
Is your computer plugged directly into your cable modem, or do you have a router? Is this Ethernet or wireless?

Regardless, if your connection is being disconnected and reconnected, it's most likely a hardware problem...your NIC, your router or your cable modem.
