SP1 for X64 Vista Yes or no?

I notice that SP1 is available from the MS website for X64 vista but it's not offered through windows update.
Any reason I should or should not install this on my notebook(non gaming)?

Are you sure this isn't on Windows Update? I'm pretty sure I installed from there a while back (before I rebuilt with the SP1 build disk)

I think it is on Windows Update for x64. Definitely should install it.

Yes it's been out for awhile.

No it's not. I checked after installing every update available and still I did not have sp1. Then downloaded it separately(700mb) and windows now tells me sp1 is installed. It was this way on four machines I've worked on.

Unless windows does not report sp1 if done through windows update it is definitely not.

There are some prerequisite updates, namely... lessee here... I think they're KB937287 and KB935509. If your systems had them already, then 😕.

Are you sure you don't already have SP1? Run winver and see if it says Service Pack 1 on second line.

Yes I did that.

Anyway I've now installed the sp1 update and all is running well.
