i have to leave soon, so i dont have time to look at the HJT log right now, but check out this thread, the about:blank hijack is a well known hijack, although it is kinda new.

and more help can be found by doing a search for about blank on the spyware info forums, ill look ASAP at your log but it might be 6 hours.

ok, im back, did About:Buster fix it? if it did, rerun hijackthis and post its new log after going thru the steps in my removal guide, so i can see what else you need to have fixed.

I've not had my homepage get switch yet. But doing a search for Sp.html I keep finding it in the temp folder under local users and my own temp folder. Can I safely delete everything in this folder???

yeh, delete that folder, also, delete your temp files, might be a good idea to turn off system restore too, post new hijackthis log when your done, please, im interested in seeing how this about:buster works (in relation to before and after hijackthis log)

Here is my HJT log file after using about:buster, and selecting various unknown items from the HJT software. When I run a search for the culprit file (Sp.HTML) I find in two of my folders. So something is recreating this file. ???

Get rid of this:

F1 - win.ini: load=c:\01comm32\bin\01comm32.exe

tblmouse.exe shows to be a Aiptek HyperPen driver so hopefully you are using one of their products.

Now run a Panda Activescan

* I also see that you have (2) Antivirus utilities running on your machine. I would only leave one running at a time.

Here it is now after removing the temp files(all) and then running about:buster, and checking the few lines in HJT.

Aw-man,
I thought Real Player was the tits.

From a purely technical side, what is wrong with Real Player?
I've gotten so use to the GUI, that I went to Real Player themselves and asked for a complete program on CD.

But if it puts my system at risk, you better bet I'd rid my comp of it in a heart beat.

Thanks for all your efforts again

nothing is wrong with it. people jsut don't like it cause of the nagging REAL update and the way it steals file associations. but if you use to play yoru media and like it. keep it.

nothing really harmfull about it, some of the applications bundled with it are questionable, but you dont appear to have any of them running. the main issue with realplayer is that it usually has allot of nagware that makes it as aggrivating as adware, but if you are used to it and it is not displaying these symptoms, keep it by all means.

What a relief. You know I've not noticed anything that would really annoy me. I can only think of a few instances where it seem to take forever to log onto real player because of an upgrade. Usually I disable that part of the program shortly after I start my system anyway. So that might be why I don't seem to be that bothered by it.

Thanks so much guys. You have been truely truely helpful.

Neil
