ok i have an sp-94 i just got from a buy sell trade forum...it came nice w/ everything except directions so i had to follow the ones on thermarights website which are crappy...

alright i installed the black plate thing on the back side of the motherboard with the cpu shaped ruber thing facing down in the case...then screwd it it from the top...then placed the heatsink on and then screwed into place

then booted up and went into hardware montior and cpu as 78C....immeditaly turned pc off

what steps did i do wrong?

That pad is supposed to be facing towards the backside of the cpu not the box! It helps to prevent shorting out the CPU.

edit: like this -

..._...... <cpu
--------- <motherboard
_/-\_

not this-

..._...... <cpu
--------- <motherboard
-\_/-
