Soyo Socket A Barebones Kit (Computer) with 52x CD-ROM, Keyboard, Mouse and Speakers $19.99 AR.

Heck of a deal at $20.00 but you gotta do 3 rebates to get it ( $110.00 out -$90.00 rebate )
How is Tiger Direct on Rebates ???

I have read boatloads of fraud complaints about TD's rebates policies (if you can call them that)

(from RR)
I have previously bought items from Tigerdirect.ca
The most pathetic thing in Tigerdirect is the rebate offers. Whats even more pathetic is that, for the past 8 rebates i sent out, only 1 came back, and the 1 which came back was submitted at the latest, on Apr 15 or so. <-- from D-Link.
Soyo, Connect3D, ProMedia ditched me, its been over 4 months.

I seriously think that Soyo and Tigerdirect actually made a deal to start trashing out these unwanted rebate products. The Soyo P4VGA motherboard is even worse. I was stupid to cut out the rebate form because I dont want to be late for the rebate, but the board doesnt even boot up, even after I brought it to a computer technician. The other product I bought from Soyo mb i bought was okay, but this P4VGA is a piece of junk. I paid $69.97 Canadian to buy a non working motherboard. Why was it free after rebate then? Was it because this board had too many defective parts?

I strongly don't recommand anyone to purchase products from Tigerdirect that involves with rebates especially with Soyo. Anyone have a scanned check from them?

Other than that, their shipping is fast.

ditto... i'd go for this if it weren't from tiger direct... but i've heard nothing good from them yet as far as rebates

I had just looked at this deal. Was considering it, until I saw the positioning of the motherboard. The CPU ends up behind the PSU, which probably makes your heatsink options pretty limited. And the case is listed as having a 100mm fan port on the back, which is an awfully odd size, if that's the right spec.

My father has a computer where the CPU is right under the PS. I'd not go for it...... that and with tigerdirect it's a crapshoot.

I already ordered it before hearing the complaints of TG's rebates. If I had to go back again and not order it I would, but now that it's here I'm gonna try it anyways. Gonna use it as a family computer so I'm not too worried about the cpu being behind the psu or anything.

Good luck w/rebates!

i have a thermalright alx-800 on this thing with no problems. Its a good mobo for the money; onboard sounds is pretty good and the onboard video blows.

i build sheapie systems on the side for people, and even without the rebates this is a decent deal.
20 for a cheap case
50 for a integrated video mobo
20 for a cheap cdrom
20 for a keyboard/mouse/speakers
______
110.00 total

So if the rebates come, great , if not, i am not out any more that i usually pay for the above items.

add in 67 for a retail 2200+ at neqwegg, 30 for 256DDR AR ot omax every other week or so and 40 AR for a 40GB and you have a decent computer for 247.00

18.xx shipping to PA

so the total is up to 265.00

still enough to sell at 329 and make a decent profit on.

I've made several purchases through Tiger Direct, and I've never had a problem with them so far. I've only had 1 experience with them involving a rebate tho, it was on a Visiontek 9500 Pro for like $20. It had been approved by rebate center but after many many months never came. Contact with the rebate center was to no avail, however I contacted Tiger Direct and asked them if they would help me contact the rebate center and see what my status was. I don't know if they actually contacted the rebate center or not but they was very polite and curtious (this was via email, suprised me to get a polite and helpful response from a company for once) and refunded me the $20 to my credit card and maybe 2 weeks later my refund check came in from the rebate center as well. I don't think it was coincedence that I received the rebate back that quick from contacting Tiger Direct vs month after month contact with the rebate center to no end. That's my experience, can't say whether or not the customer service is still that helpful but I have had no problems with the company itself, but as per everyone else I wouldn't trust the rebates.

I've gotten all the rebates I've ever submitted for TD items. Sometimes they are sloooow and other times I needed to call the rebates center but, in the end, I did receive them all...

Kinda like CompUSA rebates.

Two rebates ($50 + $20) are SOYO's, verifyrbate . com. I had a few rebates with SOYO, no problem so far; not very slow, either. Most you need to worry is the $20 with TD, so, $39.99 is a good deal in the end.

Yeah, manufacturer rebates you may get but count on never getting Tiger Direct rebates and be very surprised if you do, just don't come back posting "I got a TD rebate..." because you would be one of the very lucky few.

Very tempting. Even if not all of the rebates come, that's a pretty good price. But I find it funny that the TD description claims the case is the best gamer's case EVAR!!!1!! for this. I have a few spare processors and drives, so I could built a complete lower end system for just the cost of this plus memory. I may do this just so I have everything to build a new-ish computer for my son's new daycare center.

Please be warned, I just read the rebate form for SOYO:

"REBATE WILL BE MAILED 12-14 WEEKS AFTER THE POSTMARK DATE OF THE PROMOTION. THE POSTMARK DATE IS THE END OF SEPTEMBER."

So, you should get rebates next year. It will be over 6 months from your purchase date, you can't dispute with credit company, if rebates never come.

I had good rebates with SOYO, it is certainly different now.
