SOYO P4S-Dragon RAID failiure

I had a hard drive that I wanted to format, so I figured, "hey, why don't I just unplug my hard drives, boot up using a CD, format the drive, and then plug my drives back in." I was running two 40gb Maxtor's in a RAID 0, btw.

I changed all of my boot settings around to load from the HD. Well, in the process of installing the drive, my CD-ROM drive got unplugged, so it tried to boot from the HD (plugged into the RAID spot), but couldn't. I then fixed that issue, and formatted the drive, but when I tried to plug the RAID drives back in, I had a problem.

Suddenly, my mobo tells me that I have no HDDs in during POST... every slot for "Primary" and "Secondary" master and slave drive is empty (except for my CD-ROM drive, which is taking up secondary slave right now). But it gets weirder. My RAID card recognizes both HDDs, and when I go into setup, it shows the Maxtors... if I take one of the drives out, it tells me that I only have one drive in.

I think this has something to do with my BIOS settings... I really only changed boot order, but I vaguely remember having to mess around with the boot order to get the drives to work when I installed them about a year and a half ago.

Does anyone have any idea what's going on? I have lots of important files on there, unfortunately, and I would rather not pay $400 to get someone to destripe the data =(.

Thanks so much!

If you are running your array via an addon card (pci), you probably won't see the drives show up as pri/sec mas/slv during post.

Check for other available options under boot devices. On my system, I get a "FT Array X" option, which points to the array on my promise fastrack100 pci card. SCSI would be the wrong selection in your case.

If, however, you are running your raid array straight off the mobo, your guess is as good as mine.

Yeah, it's from a Highpoint card built into my mobo... my manual tells me to run it with the SCSI as a first boot device.
